Security Tips For Online Users

1. Bank never asks for your confidential account information in an unsecured platform like an email. Be alert of any e–mail asking you to provide account–related information, like your account number / card number or PIN.

2. Do not use Public or Shared Computers. You are responsible for keeping your PIN confidential. You should not use public or shared computers such as those in Internet Cafes for Internet banking; you may be open to harmful programs that could capture your personal information.

3. Beware Of Scam Emails. If you receive an e-mail asking you to visit a bank website and to provide your account related information, verify that the web page is both secure and that it belongs to bank, by assuring the following steps:

a. You should see an image of a “pad-lock” in a locked position at the bottom of your browser window.

b. Double click on the pad-lock symbol, then a digital certificate should appear which says “Issued to: xxxxxxxx.bank.com” After you are assured that the website is secured and legitimately belong to bank, you may enter your account number / card number as well as PIN to do your online transactions.

c. Do not open email attachments from strangers or install software or run programs of an unknown origin.

4. To help further protect yourself against credit card fraud in general, bank suggests the following:

a. Keep your PIN private and do not share this with anyone, particularly on written correspondence such as email or letters.

b. Don’t give your account number over the phone unless you know the company and you made the call.

c. To transact online on the bank website, always enter the full URL (www.xxxbank.com) into your browser address bar.

d. Click log out when you have finished your banking session. Do not just close your browser window.

e. If you receive an email that warns you that your bank account will be closed unless you reconfirm your personal information, please do not reply or click on the link in the email. Instead type in the actual bank URL (www.xxxbank.co.id) into your browser.

f. Review credit card and bank account statements as soon as you receive them to determine whether there are any unauthorized charges.

g. Check your accounts on a regular basis and contact bank immediately at our 24–hour Customerhone Banking should you encounter any difficulties or irregularities.

h. Make sure your home computer has the most current anti–virus software. Anti–virus software needs frequent updates to guard against new viruses. Make sure you download the anti–virus updates as soon as you are notified that a download is available.

Sudan plane fire, killing dozens

Sudan plane fireSudan TV : 100 dead in Sudan after plane catches fire.

A Sudan Airways Airbus 310 landed in a storm at Khartoum airport before bursting into flames late Tuesday night. Sudanese television reports about 100 people are dead after a jetliner crashed and burst into flames. The head of Sudanese police, Mohammad Najib, said bad weather caused the plane to crash land, split into two and catch fire.

Official and state media said immediately after the crash that about half the 203 passengers aboard the Airbus A310 had been killed in the crash around 9 p.m. But several hours later officials began reporting a lower toll.

Sudanese authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Tidal Waves On Indonesian Waters

Tidal Waves The release of BMG (Agency for Meteorology and Geophysics) The high tidal waves are still to hit Indonesian waters up to the end of this week. Taufiq Hidayah of the BMG officials said "Three to 4-meter tidal waves are predicted to occur in Arafuru Sea and waters south of Merauke, Papua, jeopardizing all types of vessels".

Meanwhile, 2-3 meter waves will rage over waters of Mentawai Islands, south of Bengkulu up to Lampung, southwest of Sunda Straits, south of West Java, Banda Sea, Aru Islands and Arafuru Sea. At this time the transportation ministry has not yet issued any warnings or orders banning vessels to operate.

Thaksin Shinawatra Come To Indonesia

ThaskinIndonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday met with former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra Wednesday (28/5)

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra stated his interest to invest in Indonesia, notably in the construction of seaports. Presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal stated that President Yudhoyono met Thaksin earlier in the day.

In the closed-door meeting at his office, the president was accompanied by State Secretary Hatta Radjasa, also Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi in there.

Indonesia electronic media reports said Thaksin is expected to invest millions of U.S. dollars in the telecommunication sector in Indonesia.

They are also discussed problems related to energy and food resilience as both Indonesia and Thailand are facing the same problems. They also tried to find the best solution to step up national security and resilience of food commodities.

Local media also write that the President Yudhoyono has a very high opinion of Thaksin Shinawatra, who during exile is still keeping watch over and expanding his businesses in Southeast Asia up to the Middle East.
